    The Breton

Bretons are multiracial by birth, being both elven and human, although displaying traits relating more to the latter. They can be seen living in High Rock, a small province situated in the north-western section of Tamriel. Although the province has a coastal line, and therefore some vegetation, it is mainly a rocky and mountainous region with a bleak landscape. The province is organised in various city states, such as Camlorn, or minor Breton Kingdoms.

The origins of this race can be traced to the Daggerfall game, and the First Era of Tamriel’s history. Their history involves the Aldmer, the original men who inhabited Tamriel, and other tribes such as the Nedic people and the Nords. Because these people intermingled and maintained control of Tamriel, the Manmer tribes were forced to live as a lower class of citizens. Once the Aldmer lost hegemony, the Manmer were able to emerge and mix with human races, and hence the mixed blood in the Breton race.

This race is particularly skilled at all forms of magic, and many great sorcerers came from the High Rock province. They are highly resistant to most forms of magic, and can be combined with the right birth sign for high magic reserves.

    Attributes, Skill and Abilities

Bretons favour high Intelligence and Willpower skills, making good mediators and magic casters. They also have adequate strength to wield a sword or weapon, and often work as guards or side with knights to aid the Emperor.

Most skill bonuses are in magic schools, since they have such high Intelligence points. A +10 bonus is offered in the schools of Conjuration, Mysticism and Restoration, with minor 5+ bonuses is some remaining schools such as Illusion.

Special Abilities: Dragon Skin – where you can use 50 points of Shield for 60 seconds, making you immune to physical attacks. Resist Magicka 50% and Fortify Magicka (5 points) are also Breton skills.

    Playing the Bosmer

Bretons make good mages, but rather than being general mages they are good at magic for personal use, such as restoration or alchemical skills. Although different than the Altmer, Bretons also have all of their bonuses relating to schools of magic, but have a less martial approach towards the arcane. They also have good starting Strength points to become good melee fighters, and can fight close to the enemy with the useful Dragon Skin ability.
